The first stop on our journey is by the colorful hot spring area of Seltún, taking a look at its bubbling mud and hot springs. Here the contrasts of the landscape is a raw natural beauty. Reykjanes is an active volcanic area with endless lava fields and lunar like landscape. A short stop by the Blue Lagoon, meant to be one of the wonders of the world. A lunch stop in the fishing village of Grindavík. You may see the fish, feel the spirit and experience the tradition that brings the world fresh Icelandic fish.

At Reykjanestá, the most SW-point of Iceland are great bird cliffs above the restless Atlantic Ocean. With some luck perhaps whales and fishing boats are to be seen beneath the cliffs. An old lighthouse and Gunnhver hot spring area along with the unique volcanic landscape where the Mid Atlantic Ridge appears on dry land where we cross the Bridge between continents, the symbolic bridge between Eurasia and North America.

A visit to the excellent exhibition of Víkingaheimar, Viking World and the Viking ship Íslendingur. On display is a full scale replica of a Viking ship which was sailed to America in the year 2000 as a part of the millennial celebration of discoverer Leifur Eiríksson’s journey to the New World. The exhibition also offer a unique opportunity to learn about the glorious history and lifestyle of the Vikings, the rulers of the North Atlantic Ocean 1100 years ago. Back to Reykjavik, we drive along the Ocean through volcanic landscape with endless lava fields covered by moss through the Viking town Hafnarfjörður.
